Smt Mahua Maji, MP Rajya Sabha and Shri Ravindra Nath Speaker of Legislative Assembly of Jharkhand to flagoff the rally in Ranchi
Ranchi, January 2nd, 2024: This new year, SwitchON Foundation announced the launch of the ‘Move for Earth’ movement in Jharkhand to celebrate and inspire Climate Action with a purpose to build a smarter and brighter future for ourselves, our children, our farmers and life on earth. After a meaningful ride in the year 2023 in West Bengal, Odisha and North Bengal, Mr. Vinay Jaju, Co-founder of SwitchON Foundation will be cycling over 500 km across Jharkhand connecting with over 5,000 farmers, women and youth, to address issues related to clean air, sustainable mobility, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy.
The Jharkhand leg of the Cycle Yatra will commence on January 4, 2024, from Jamshedpur and then pass through Khunti, Ranchi, Ormanjhi, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Phusro, Dhanbad, Giridih, Madhupur, Deogarh, Jarmundi and culminate in Dumka on January 9, 2024. Smt Mahua Maji, MP Rajya Sabha and Shri Ravindra Nath, Speaker of Legislative Assembly of Jharkhand shall flag off the Cycle Yatra from Ranchi on January 5, 2024. This initiative will encourage urgent climate action and facilitate purposeful events and activities that will range from skill development training, stakeholder meetings, seed festivals and buyer-seller meets, to handicraft fairs, millet and tech expos, street art and puppet shows. The ride will conclude with a Citizens Jury for Earth in which small groups of farmers and urban youth will interact with experts and get involved in the process of making recommendations on our collective future, leveraging the values of democratic decision making.
Mr. Vinay Jaju, Co-founder SwitchON Foundation said, “SwitchON Foundation is celebrating 15 years of serving and strengthening communities through clean energy, sustainable agriculture and other sustainable ways of living. To celebrate this journey, I am taking on a cycle yatra which will cover over 500 kms where I will engage with Farmers, Youth, Government, Financiers, Technologists and CSOs with meaningful dialogues and events.” He further added, “In the face of a devastating climate crisis, this yatra aims to celebrate and inspire climate action.”
SwitchON announced the schedule of this six – day Cycle Yatra across Jharkhand as part of the ‘Move for Earth’ movement, which will engage Farmers, Youth, Government, Financiers, Technologists and Civil Society Organizations through its journey, and offer solutions to community-specific issues related to water, soil, energy and clean air, that are directly impacting the livelihood and health of citizens. This movement aims to unite and amplify the collective voice of Climate Champions, equip communities with key tools, resources, new age skills and create a networked ecosystem for them to be the ambassadors of change.
