Bhubaneswar, 19th October: Regional Science Centre (A Unit of National Council of Science Museums), Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India in collaboration with SwitchON Foundation organized a two day program on Mega Pot Painting Competition and Plantation drive and a Mono acting contest on the theme of “Swachata hi Sevafostering a sense of environmental consciousness along with creativity among children and youth. The event brought together young minds to make a positive impact on the environment while showcasing their artistic talents.

Around 100 students participated in the Mega Pot painting competition and plantation drive which was held at the Regional Science Centre, Bhubaneswar. Participants had the opportunity to express their artistic prowess by painting pots with vibrant colors and imaginative designs. These painted pots later served as homes for beautiful plants. The event encouraged children and youth to unleash their imaginations. This event brought diverse age groups together to interact, learn, and grow as a united community. This hands-on experience in environmental conservation is not only educational but also a way to nurture a sense of responsibility towards our Blue Planet.

In an effort to promote cleanliness and create awareness among children and youth, a captivating mono acting event was organized surrounding the theme “Swachata Hi Seva” which translates to cleanliness is service. Around 20 students participated in the act to showcase their performance through artistic skills and conveyed the message of cleanliness in a unique and engaging manner.

Mr. Kapil Jain, Project Coordinator, Regional Science Centre said that Painting aids to acquire hand-eye coordination, an important skill to shape the creative ability of students, however Mono acting helps to bring out performance based skills of students to convey the message. Such competition provides a learning opportunity with lots of fun and excitement.  “Let the strokes of creativity and the colors of nature blend in harmony as we embark on the Mega pot painting & Plantation and Mono act on cleanliness. We believe that engaging children and youth in these kinds of events not only creates awareness but also empowers them to be future ambassadors of cleanliness.”

Mr. Vinay Jaju, Managing Director, SwitchON Foundation said, “It is very important to connect children and youth with nature. Painting on the earthen pots will create a sense of awareness amongst the children and youth to adopt eco friendly practices rather than using plastic pots. By nurturing artistic talents while instilling a sense of environmental responsibility, we are encouraging children and youth to be advocates for clean air at a young age that can instill a sense of responsibility and environmental stewardship.”

Mr. Gajendra Kumar Padhi, Principal  B.K. College of Art and Craft College, Bhubaneswar said, “I am equally glad and amazed to witness this artistic event where the children and youth came together to carve their imaginations on the theme of environment and climate change. I am happy to see the collaboration of different organizations like Regional Science Center, Bhubaneswar and SwitchON Foundation with a common goal to empower the children and youth to adopt sustainable practices.”
