Championing Women Entrepreneurs: MSME Day Showcases Small Business Impact & Opportunities

Nadia, 28 June 2024: To mark MSME Day, SwitchON Foundation united women entrepreneurs of the region at the DIC Conference Hall in Nadia, celebrating the pivotal contributions of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises to the local economy. This impactful event offered invaluable insights into government schemes and initiatives, creating a nurturing and empowering environment for emerging women entrepreneurs in the region.

The event was graced by esteemed guests: Mr. Debabrata Roy, General Manager of the District Industry Center, and Mr. Supratim Kumar Das, Deputy Director of Sericulture at the Central Silk Board. They shared their expertise on the crucial role of MSMEs and the government support available to encourage entrepreneurial growth. Around 50 participants including farmers, budding entrepreneurs, women groups etc joined the MSME Day celebrations. 

Mr. Supratim Kumar Das, Deputy Director of Sericulture, Central Silk Board stated, “MSMEs are the backbone of our economy. I applaud SwitchON Foundation for organizing such an impactful event that brings together key stakeholders and highlights the vital contributions of small businesses. Special attention should be given to women entrepreneurs, whose innovative spirit and determination can be significantly strengthened through targeted support and resources. Together, we can ensure that MSMEs, particularly those led by women, continue to thrive and drive our economic progress.”

Mr. Surajit Chakraborty, General Manager, SwitchON Foundation said, “By providing the right resources and support, we can unlock endless opportunities for growth and innovation in the MSME sector. Our aim is to make local entrepreneurs aware of the various opportunities available to them and equip them with the right knowledge and tools to start and scale their businesses.”

One of the key highlights was that the event featured exhibitions highlighting the achievements of successful women entrepreneurs, showcasing their innovative products and services. These exhibitions aimed to inspire and motivate other aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly women, to pursue their business ambitions. Participants had the opportunity to engage directly with government officials through interactive sessions. These sessions provided valuable information about various government schemes, initiatives like Bhabishyat Credit Card, KVIC – Khadi & Village Industries Commission, Micro & Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP), Udyam Registration, Artisan Card, fostering a supportive environment for budding entrepreneurs.

Mr. Debabrata Roy, General Manager of the District Industry Center said, “This event highlights the vital role of MSMEs in driving economic development. By fostering a supportive environment and facilitating access to government schemes, we can empower small businesses to reach new heights.”

The MSME Day celebration served as a vital platform for recognizing the pivotal role that small businesses play in the local economy. It also equipped entrepreneurs with the knowledge and resources they need to succeed. The event underscored the commitment of SwitchON Foundation, the District Industry Center, and the Central Silk Board to fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and supporting the growth of MSMEs in the region.
