Gooooodmorning Calcutta!

It is time for your wake-up call! The past week the Switch On team visited a lot of schools and colleges in Calcutta to spread the word on our existence and approach to the climate urgency and its solutions. This time we are doing promotional sessions together with the Banglanatak people - who have created great and funny skits around the topic of Climate Change. After all- we can’t preach creativity and not be creative ourselves!
Banglanatak really caught the attention of students with their beautiful, hilarious - yet meningfull - pieces of art. Both the Putochitro and the Gambira that revolved around the urgency of Climate Change were very well received. While the artists gave the audience enough laughing material - al lot of serious ground was covered as well. After the performances we interacted with the audience and had great discussions on the future of India.
The fact that this wasn’t just some other lecture on Global warming - but an interactive, original, informative session - brought a bigger focus of the audience and a larger response. The impact was especially shown by the large response we received when students were given the opportunity to subsribe to our Climate Leadership Workshop.
I would like end with a quote from a student that really stayed with me. She said:
‘If India will keep playing this blame game it will backfire into our own faces. It’s time we start acting instead of re-acting to our circumstances. We have to create new ones.’
